So, I had my first supper club night, a Lebanese/Syrian dinner, and it was great. Full house with charming guests, and none of the ladies wore spiky heels — I asked them not to because my wooden floor hates them! And nothing went wrong. Oh, one thing. I forgot to offer the promised Turkish or white coffee despite having it all ready. But no one seemed to notice and they all enjoyed the food, each other and the setting.
As for my helpers, I couldn’t have asked for two lovelier young ladies. Some of you may recognise Nuria on the left — sorry about the fuzzy picture; I took it with my iphone when we were downstairs resting for a short while before everyone arrived. Nuria helps me with my classes and is sweet, cheerful and very pretty as well as very capable while Eliza was an amazing gift from Rebecca, a friend/neighbour who was at the dinner and who chairs Open Shoreditch and who hired her as our intern for the summer to help with each of our organisations’ neighbourhood work. Again I couldn’t have asked for a better intern, just as lovely and capable as Nuria, and very happy to help with the dinners. All in all a very successful evening. I will report back next week on the Emirati dinner.
And here is Nuria smiling. She wasn’t very happy to be photographed but I insisted!
